]Woman, 30, who claims she 'only has sex with ghosts' says she's ready to have a baby with her SPIRIT lover

A woman who claims she only has sex with ghosts has revealed her plans to have a baby with her spirit lover.

Amethyst Realm, 30, from Bristol, told This Morning on Monday she has been with her ghost lover for six months and said she is ready to start a family.

Speaking on the ITV show, Ms Realm, who claims she turned her back on men to have 'sex with ghosts' more than 11 years ago, revealed she believes phantom pregnancies are actually real, and are the result of conceiving a baby with a spirit - and can result in a human baby.

However, the spiritual guidance counsellor, who claims to have had sexual encounters with 20 different ghostly lovers, left viewers baffled by her comments, with many branding her 'crazy' and 'attention seeking'.

Ms Realm said she had met the ghost in the Australian bush, and it followed her on to the plane back to England, where they had a sexual experience in the toilets.

Now their relationship has continued to blossom; they have fallen in love and Ms Realm said she wants to have a child with the ghost.

She explained: 'I've been looking into phantom pregnancy and I believe phantom pregnancy is a real pregnancy but you have a phantom inside you rather than a human baby.

'The reason you don't carry it on full term is because people can't comprehend that it's possible, but I'm hoping through understanding my body I'll be able to.'

Ms Realm said 'part of the excitement' will be finding out if her baby is human or a spirit.

She said the spirit lover, that she cannot see or touch, is 'very ancient, very wise, very kind' and their love is the same as regular 'earth-bound' relationships.

She said they are now planning a handfasting, which is a pagan commitment ceremony similar to a wedding.

Confused This Morning viewers took to Twitter to criticise the quirky interview.

One tweeted: 'Amazing how people will fully mug themselves off just to get on telly for 5 minutes.'

Although she said she has always been able to communicate with ghosts, she described her first paranormal sexual encounter as unexpected.

Amethyst explained how she first felt a presence in the home she had just moved into with her then-fiance ten years ago.

While her fiance was away she decided to pursue things further, she said, and dressed in a saucy negligee to entice the ghost, who she says she went on to have sex with.

Amethyst says her relationship with her first ghost lasted for three years before eventually petering out.

Since then, she says she's had 20 ghostly lovers - and is more embarrassed by her tally than the fact her partners don't take human form.

    WHAT THE SCIENTISTS SAY...

Christopher French, professor of psychology at Goldsmiths College, University of London, and co-author of Anomalistic Psychology: Exploring Paranormal Belief And Experience says that ghostly experiences are not anything to do with mental illness.

'We need to avoid any kind of simplistic notion that anyone who has weird experiences is suffering from a mental illness.

'What is generally accepted is that hallucinatory experiences are much more common in the non-clinical, totally well-functioning part of the population than was once appreciated. Anyone can have hallucinations particularly if you are stressed or sleep-deprived.'

Professor French believes that most cases of 'sex with ghosts' can be explained easily.

'Sleep paralysis is common 20 to 40 per cent of people say they've experienced it and is the state between sleep and wakefulness when you realise you can't move. In a smaller percentage of the population, you get associated symptoms that can be very scary. One that's commonly reported is a sense of a presence something or someone in the room with you.

'You can also get hallucinations where you see dark shadows or monstrous figures, you can get auditory hallucinations you hear voices, footsteps and also tactile hallucinations.

'You can feel as if you're being held, you might feel as if someone is breathing on the back of your neck, you can feel as if you're being dragged out of the bed.

'During a normal night's sleep, you go through different stages and it's REM sleep that's associated with vivid dreams.'
